Mark Davy set up Futurecity in 2007 to reflect the growing interest in culture-driven placemaking and regeneration. He has worked closely with real estate professionals including developers, architects, landscape architects, engineers’ planners, and property professionals the world over. He has used Futurecity as a platform to encourage the use of arts and culture as a guiding narrative for the development and regeneration of our towns, cities, and urban centres. His work has led to substantial new funding for arts and cultural projects in the UK and abroad, from sponsorship, commissioning, bursaries, residencies, new cultural facilities and access by artists, creatives, and cultural organisations to well-funded projects. He has establishing long term partnerships with universities and other educational organisations, including the Royal College of Art, Royal Academy Schools, University of the Arts-London, and the University of the Creative Arts.

Futurecity have developed strategy, framework and implementation work for Business Investment Districts including an ambitious arts and business strategy for the 600 business and cultural members of the ‘Heart of London Business Investment District’ in the West End. The strategy led to the ‘Art of London’ brand and a new Arts Quarter foe London’s West End. Futurecity’s work on commercial developments has seen appointments to 10 City of London projects, as part of the new Destination City initiative, including the former Daily Express site, Liverpool Street Station and Holborn Viaduct. Futurecity have worked on 20 development projects along the River Thames as part of the Creative Estuary initiative, from Ram Brewery (Greenland) in Wandsworth, Battersea Power Station, Southbank, Shard Quarter, City Island, cultural exhibition, and creative workspace, with a focus on positive fashion and sustainable living, London Studios at Upper Ground, Southbank, (Mitsubishi Estates) for new-gen talent in the London Borough of Lambeth, a set of arts and culture led retail spaces in Basildon as part of Community People and Places, a programme of spaces for artists Convoys Wharf, Crossharbour, Greenwich Peninsula, Barking Riverside, and Chatham (Medway).
