Marco Vanucci

Opensystems Architecture / Founder & Design Director

Marco Vanucci is Founder and Design Director of OPENSYSTEMS Architecture.
He studied architecture in Italy and in the UK where he graduated from the Architectural Association in 2004. After graduation, he worked at Zaha Hadid Architects and at AKTII, as a member of the Parametric Applied Research Team, where he found the opportunity to develop his interest for organizational and performative systems and the middle ground between architecture and engineering. During his professional career, he worked on many seminal projects at the intersection of architecture, computational design, engineering and fabrication.

As the director of OPENSYSTEMS Architecture, he has worked on UK and International projects spanning from residential to factories, from retail and hospitality to public art and product design.
While at Opensystems, the practice was awarded first prizes “Outside the Box” competition (2012), received third prize of the “Past Forward” Storefront Gallery competition (2012), was shortlisted for the AIM CO-working competition (2016), was awarded the A’Design Bronze medal for Interior and Exhibition design (2017) and was selected for the NLA’s Don’t Move Improve exhibition (2017).

Marco has taught Architectural Technology at KTH in Stockholm and design studios at the Architectural Association in London. Marco has taken part in several conferences and symposia (Venice Biennale, Acadia2008) and has given lectures worldwide. His works have been featured in several international exhibitions in Europe and North America and he is a regular Guest Critic at the Architectural Association, Bartlett School, Columbia University, KTH Stockholm, Harvard GSD, ESA Paris, and IAAC.
