"Wall Layer and Canopy Roof" is located relatively close to central Sapporo. Visiting the site reveals a forest of condominiums, apartments, shops, offices, and both new and old homes. It seemed natural to embed a "singularity"—a building that doesn't resemble a residence and whose purpose at first glance is unclear—in this teeming urban environment. How can we create a livable space on a site that's by no means large, and create a sense of spaciousness that exceeds its actual size? We sought to explore how to create an oasis amid the urban noise.
