• About Firm
  Studio Mehta Architecture is a Nairobi-based practice established by Amar Mehta in 2019. The practice is committed to the delivery of innovative and ambitious designs that actively contribute to the development and improvement of our built environment. Working both locally and internationally on a diverse range of research led, architectural projects, Studio Mehta Architecture is a culmination of rigorous thinking and analysis, brought to life through prototyping, testing and making.

The Casa SD Residence is situated along the tree lined suburb of Kyuna in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. Inspired by the forgotten genre of Kenyan Modernism, the new villa emerges from its equatorial ecosystem to pay homage to local form, materiality and technique.

Inspired by the villa’s immediate surroundings, the material palette consists of concrete, natural stone, indigenous timbers and an assortment of local plant species - occasionally adorned with delicate brass detailing.
