  • About Firm
Astudio are an award-winning architecture practice, dedicated to delivering world-class sustainable design solutions, that enhance communities and the surrounding environment. Astudio’s courage in the pursuit of new ways to reduce carbon and change behaviours gained us the title of Architectural Practice of the Year in 2012, only five years after the practice was established. This led to the formation of an R&D group to innovate new ways of thinking about the challenges faced in the industry.

The Kingston Academy is a 1188 pupil high school of 10000 m2: an existing building refurbishment and an extension of twice its size. The extension mimics the existing building’s shape maintaining functional clarity and emphasises the school’s technology-based curriculum through inspiring spaces, like the tall top-lit central atrium for dining/events. Externally, the façade’s shades of red blend with the surroundings.
The Academy fulfils the need for a local high school and opens its sports facilities out-of-hours, reinforcing the Academy’s position as a vital resource at its community’s heart.
