The task: convert an existing office building into a luxury hotel. The challenge: the former headquarters of Hamburg’s tax authorities, a listed, 100-year-old property, was not built with an inviting spirit to attract visitors, but rather, to strengthen respect and discipline. The solution: a sensitive approach that reawakens specific interior details discovered during the first site inspections of the historic landmark. The result: a journey through time that recalls important decades of the building’s history while uniquely celebrating Hamburg’s heritage and culture.
